I am very interested and excited about this.

A small form factor and a decent RPM / Cache / Seek time, make this small
secure drive a very viable replacement for a desktop drive.

Get an external enclosure and you can take your desktop where ever you go.
(of sorts).

But /agree with you. No word on how to access this device. Software? USB
Key?

Subject: [FDE] Fujistu announces 2,5 inch SATA HDD with FDE

Hi folks,

as i heard a few minutes ago, Fujitsu recently announced a FDE-Drive!

Details in German language are avaible here:
http://www.golem.de/0804/59145.html

Since I didn't read about this device here at the list, I think this
might be news to someone.

In the article the following details were given:
2,5 inch
SATA
7200rpm
about 320 GB capacity
AES using 256bit a key
hardware based encryption

It is not said if one needs special software to unlock the drive.
Fujitsu said, the drive can be used in external enclosures.
I'd like to know how they manage all this, and how the drive is
unlocked.

By the way, they want to sell 2mio of themn until the end of the year.

Stay tuned,

Dan
