I know I will be accused of subverting the list but I am normally very well
behaved so here goes:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/mar/15/alan-garner-weirdstone-brisingamen-trilogy-boneland
Hope this helps. And we shall still all wait expectantly for Magician's End, no
matter what else we read meanwhile.

The new book is called "Boneland".
I'm glad it isn't just me that read these.
Of course he also wrote "Elidor" and "Red Shift".

Weirdstone is one of my all time favourite books. First book I ever read and
thought 'wow'. From there to tolkien to the stacks of books I have now.

Never paid any attention to the other works though; have now added them to the
list!

In answer to "who" why not look him up on Amazon? A great British fantasy
writer who predated J K Rowling by many years. Still writing thought-provoking
stuff to this day.

I can't wait for Magician's End but at least I know that I'm getting something
decent on 30th August. This knowledge is no good to you unless you have first
read "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen" & "The Moon of Gomrath" and it would be
unwise just to dismiss them as "childrens' books" since there is a link to
"Thursbitch" which is certainly not a childrens' book.

We were all surely watching the Olympics and are now resting and preparing
ourselves for the Paralympics?
If REF has nothing to offer at present then Alan Garner has the long awaited
(since 1972) 3rd book of his trilogy due out on 30th August in the UK. Someone
is bound to say "who?".
