Mass market paperback is where the money is still, though ebooks may eclipse 
that on of these years.  Hardcovers have a limited shelf-life, usually until 
the paperback arrives, then they are remaindered.  Paperbacks stay in print as 
long as they're selling.  Magician, for example, has been continuously in print 
more than 30 years in both the UK and US, which is if I may be somewhat 
immodest, almost unheard of.
