I'm familiar with using the Apache parent POM. IMO this is a good and safe move. The rest of the changes look good so I'd like to apply this patch.
Also if you tell me what do you need from the safehaus repo in maven central repo I can move it and remove that repo from the parent pom, reducing the build time as only one repo needs to be pinged for artifacts.
I removed my local repo and rebuilt without the Safehaus repo. The missing artifact came up as: http://m2.safehaus.org/kxml2/kxml2/2.2.2/kxml2-2.2.2.jar Enrique
