The thing is whether it is worth doing any of these changes.
The priority for the project is to get more people involved.
I can actually fund significant development now .. but my prequisite
for doing that is a reasonable quota of active developers.

At this time the count is roughly one .. me.

Moving the repository, changing the build system, etc etc etc
are all peripheral destabilising events. We actually need docs,
performance measurements, and perhaps an easier way for people
to add regression tests.

The latter is a build system issue I guess. At present adding
tests is so much of a pain I don't bother myself a lot of the
time, despite actually writing these test cases.
