Actually, the biggest problem here is that any change which
records the defaults for a function, will require changing
the most commonly used terms in the compiler .. parameter
lists are analysed in a lot of places.. 

arrghhh .. I hate to think of fiddling the Scheme code
in the parser on that one .. :)
