Karen,
I would have never experienced the joys of watching an entire litter grow up together if they hadn't had felv.  It was a wonderful experience.  Kittens do get diarrhea, but I would worry if it doesn't clear up quick.  I can't believe what you've already been through!  Ringworm for all my friends, YUK!  What a nightmare.

Is it possible that if you told your vet the story of how you came to have these guys they might be willing to give you a discount?  If not, shame on them.  You could try contacting your local rescues and asking them if you could go through their organization to get their discount.  I do this with a local rescue.  I don't have to abide by anything they say, they're just kind enough to let me bring my rescues into the vet that works with them, (for a discount).  They pay the vet and then I pay them back in the form of a donation.  That way I get a discount and I can deduct the costs from my taxes, (because it's a donation to a charity).  Call around, usually when they hear you're not looking to dump animals on them, they become very sympathetic and appreciate your willingness to help animals in need.

In my area there are no kill shelters and Allie Cat Advocates that sometimes have spay/neuter days and, at other times, have vets that will do s/n at a discount.  I don't know if any of these would be able to help or not.  ACA is nationwide from what I can tell.  And it doesn't hurt to ask.
