Gina, I wouldn't worry about her going into heat anytime too soon - Typically, cats do not go into heat from October thru January - it's Mother Nature's way of preventing kittens from being born in the dead of winter. Pippin will probably be fine if you want to wait until after Christmas - then she will be 8 mos old.
