Diane Thanks, it is some comfort that my sister was able to find out the cat was sick beforehand. Otherwise Slinky would have just disappeared. Eric saw Slinky when he visited my sister in January and said he looked like my Puttyrat.
Puttyrat went off and died, after only exhibiting symptoms for a day. I do not think he had FELV but maybe he had a cat bite that did not surface and drain. I am only guessing that because he was sore under his arm. I had planned to take him to the vet the next day, but he had other ideas. I will always miss my Puttyrat.
