In this case, I feel compelled to chime in and mention Sturgeon's Law:
"Ninety percent of everything is crud".
There is, of course, the corollary: "The remaining ten percent is worth it".
Point being here is that for the few who are really, honestly wanting to
get better at the written word, this guide would be for them as well.
So I would counter then, Richard, that it's not completely pointless -
it very much has a purpose, just not as widespread as everyone may hope.
