 Backstrap Weaving Instruction, taught by Guatemalan indigenous weavers,
is available from October through April.  Instruction is one-on-one in a
weaver's home or in a beautiful courtyard setting in Antigua.  Knowledge
of Spanish is helpful, but not necessary for the backstrap weaving

county, CA) on a one-to-one basis. The cost is $10/hour. How to
prepare wool for spinning, the spinning process, and how to set the spin
are covered. Materials are included in the price of the class. For more

Michigan - Once a Month
 Girls Nite In, first Friday of the month, September through June, 7 to
10 p.m. Meet at Heritage Spinning & Weaving; 47 E. Flint Street (3
blocks east of M-24 in the Classic Printers Building); Lake Orion,
Michigan. An informal working session. Bring any project you are working
on (spinning, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, embroidery, etc.) and
enjoy the company of like-minded women. This is not the place to come to
learn a new skill, but rather it is intended to be a nice time to get a
little work done and enjoy some "girl time." Skill levels: All.
Equipment: Whatever you need to work on your project! Cost: $10 per
night (no charge with $50 purchase). Includes sweet treats. Advanced

Michigan - Once a Month
 Nine to Noon, second Saturday of the month. Hosted by Yvonne Uhliahuk
at her Mt. Bruce Station (www.sheepstuff.com), we sit and spin or knit
in the Farm Wool Shop during the winter and under the shade trees in the
summer. A truly delightful way to connect with fellow spinners and
knitters. Skill levels: all. No fee to participate. No reservations

The Academy of Spinsters
 The Academy of Spinsters. We are located in the small town of
Encampment, WY. The town is located in a high (7400') mountain valley.
The school offers classes in Spinning, Dyeing, and Fleeceweaving. Carol
Lee is the owner and instructor, teaching fiber crafts for the past 28
years. Lodging and all material provided in a daily fee of $40. per
person. We are available for groups up to 30 persons, with discounted
rates applying. Ms. Lee is also available for Workshops, Seminars and

The Boll Weaver
 Boll Weaver is located in Northern California in  the coastal town of
Eureka.  Owner Crystal Dobbs has been spinning, knitting, dyeing and
weaving for over 25 years and loves to share her experience and
knowledge.  You'll always leaves her classes with all questions 
answered and the skills to continue on your own. Available at Boll Weaver

 Creative Hands in Connecticut has workshops almost every weekend
ranging from pottery, knitting, spinning, rug hooking and more to be

and 20+ years of fiber experience. Weekend and week-long classes are
offered throughout the year in spinning, natural dyeing, and weaving of
various forms, including table and floor loom and multi-shaft weaving,
tartans, inkle, tablet, Navajo and triangle weaving.  Guest instructors
include Sarah Natani for Advanced Navajo Weaving and Leslie Carroll for
Kumihimo. Two-day workshops are $100, 3-days $140, 4-days $170; 5-1/2
days $225.  Guest lecture workshops are extra.  Materials fees vary
according to class.  Class hours are 10 - 5 p.m. the first day, 9 - 4
p.m. the last day, and 9 - 5p.m. all other days during longer workshops.
 Homemade soups and salads are included for lunches.  Bed and breakfast
are available on site for students.  An airport shuttle serves from St.
Louis and Kansas City airports to the Studio front door.  Looms and
spinning wheels are available for rent during workshops.  All materials,
supplies and books for workshops are available through HFS.

Hope Hill Farm

 Woodland Woolworks is located about 35 miles southwest of Portland,
