Has anyone else had a problem with the Louet flyer de-laminating? I have an old S-78 (?) Louet, which is my spinning workhorse. Last year I began having a problem with the flyer hitting against the cross brace when I was spinning, due to splaying of the arms. It was only an occasional thing, and I chalked it up to the age of the wheel.......until it began to happen all the time. Looking closely, we discovered that a few layers of lamination were coming apart....... Admittedly, she has alot of miles on her, but has never gotten wet, been stored, etc.
Talked to a friend who told me she replaced her flyer last year because of the same problem.... So that has me wondering, is this a common problem with older Louets? Has anyone else experienced this? My husband, who is a furniture maker, separated some the layers further and is hoping that the epoxy will solve the problem, but the flyer is still in the clamps, so the jury is out. I'll let you know if it works. At $50 for a new flyer, thought it was worth the experiment.
