Dear Sir/Madam: In celebration of the National Children’s Book Day this coming July, the Children’s Literature Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CLAPI), which is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to enhance children’s literature in the country, whose membership is composed of teachers, librarians, writers and book publishers, is holding a forum on “K to 12 Curriculum and Reading”This will be held at the Epifanio delos Santos Hall, National Library of the Philippines, T. M. Kalaw, Manila on July 24, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The objectives of the forum are: 1)to develop awareness among the teachers, librarians, writers and other members of the school community the K to 12 Education Program; 2)strengthen the partnership among the school administrators, teachers, librarians, writers and book publishers to support the K to 12 Curriculum 3)encourage teachers to prepare their own instructional materials using the Mother Tongue Language (MTL); 4)adopt different reading strategies using the MTL to instill the love for books and reading.
