    If you scan at 64bit, then you'll be able to save the raw scan
(64bit, including the IR channel), and then subsequently "crop" the
same file with complete freedom for choosing Vuescan's modes of
dust/defect correction (or not).  With 48bit, then you have no options
for dust/defect correction.
