Does anyone here have experience of this lovely machine? I have used
several scanners, but have yet to find one supplied with really
competent software. ColorFlex looks good on first introduction, but I
find that the preview image does not have enough resolution to allow
full correction of the image and subsequent scan in 8 bit channels. I
have had to resort to my usual tactic of scanning 16 bit channels and
doing all the corrections in Picture Window. (I prefer my 8/24 bit
files on CD backup to have smooth histograms, as this gives me plenty of
leeway for subsequent alteration to the image without the need to
re-scan.

I suppose the Flextight is really designed for professionals who work
under controlled studio conditions and, after some fiddling, can produce
images which all require the same transform. Even careful use of a
spotmeter will not give consistent negatives when working outdoors in
varying light and contrast situations.

Any thoughts?
