That behavior probably occurs because the Adaptec 2903 isn't fully supported in Win2K. It's not listed on the Hardware Compatibility List. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/professional/howtobuy/upgrading/compat/default.asp whenever you want to look for a device. Keep a local copy in text format for reference.
