Try the gigabyte newsgroup since you have a GA motherboard, although
I suspect an ATI discussion group may be more productive.

PNP is a wonderful thing *if* it works, but can be a nightmare if it
doesn't.
Have you tried taking the modem out to see if the freeze-ups persist?
