Or, that Ed found a way around the problem (or does something differently)
in software.  You might want to report this information to Nikon, and even
ask Ed why he believes the (purportedly) same scenario with his software
does not band.

I'm still hard pressed to believe that software, in this case, can "cause"
banding...mostly because some of these scanners don't band with the exact
same software!
