Not being much of a programmer, isn't OLE designed to do just this very thing? Making the parts linked to the score via OLE (or a similar programming procedure) would be a possible solution, wouldn't it? Or is OLE dead and buried as un-implementable in any working situation?
I know that WordPerfect allows such linking with the graphics files -- I can embed the graphic in the document so that even if I change the original, that original will always appear the same in my WordPerfect file. OR I can choose to leave the graphic on disk and include only the link, so that I can edit the graphic and the edited version shows up the next time I open or print that WP document. Surely a similar approach would be possible with Finale? Of course the ability to do so doen't imply that I think it would be easy, and I am not sure that is where I want my development dollars spent, but I would think it would certainly be possible.
