Mark,

I am sure that this is all excellent advice. I will study it and try
to improve my experience with lyrics by using it.

However, let me cynically reply with,

dwm's "Abridged Version of MDL's FINALE LYRICS FOR IMBECILES"

1. Please do not use any of the more obvious or intuitive
lyric-editing options which Finale provides. They will only make you
slam your head repeatedly into your keyboard. They are, however,
provided for the convenience of our users who enjoy the fashion
statement that can only be made by a large red welt above the brows.

It would appear that the biggest problem with Finale lyrics is that
they are arranged in a linked-list database which is never
(completely) reconciled with the lyrics as they appear in the score.
I realize that this is a gross over-simplification, but it seems
obvious that the data structure should track the order of items in
the score.

Isn't this a little like saying, "Always enter all of your contacts
into your address book in alphabetical order; never add or delete any
contacts after your initial entry"?
