You mean something easier than Speedy Entry? This turns the three rows of a QWERTY keyboard into three octaves of notes, with durations entered either with the number keys up top or the numeric keypad; I find the latter much easier.

Coda did sort of muck up Speedy Entry a couple of versions ago so that you have to keep Caps Lock on in order to use the QWERTY keys as notes rather than as various modifiers. This was done for the convenience of people who use MIDI keyboards for Speedy (and teh inconvenience of the rest of us). But there are ways to get Finale to use the old behavior, with Caps Lock off, at least on Windows.
