It certainly seems logical enough, but I wouldn't venture into it with my class. The ones who are totally unfamiliar with music have enough trouble understanding counting at all.I suppose it's just a matter of familiarity with the style and genre, but I don't find it at all confusing. I would certainly join you in discouraging its MISuse, but I can't see discouraging it altogether. If that's the style you want, how else could you notate it? In some editions you'll occasionally see a tie to a grace note, but I find that makes it more confusing, not less<<
