I know that you all are experts on printers.
We have a Okidata Laser printer that worked well for about a year, but now has worn out.
My wife prints several hundred pages a week, mostly Word documents.
Originally, price was the key factor, but now, having the printer wear out quickly, durability is more the issue.
I couldn't venture an opinion on the HP 1200 series, but my printer guy tells me that my ancient HP LaserJet 4 beats every other model for durability. He claims that the newer HPs are not as durable, but based on my experience, I would risk buying another HP printer any time. It's a workhorse.
I suspect that the difference in price between models of the 1200 series is based on features like extra trays, duplexer, possibly networking cards or extra RAM, and that the mechanics are all the same. So you would not get better durability out of the higher price, but more features.
Just my opinion, mind you.
