I'm a Finale user as well as a network admin. I put a 1200se in a small lab
18 months ago and haven't heard a complaint from anyone (except an empty
toner cartridge). Personally, I don't like the paper tray, but for $400 ...

Recently, I put a 2200d in a teacher's resource lab. I like it, so far, and
my users really like the duplex unit that is standard with the 2200d. I
also includes an infrared port.

I agree with the comment about the HP4 being an incredible workhorse. I
still have three HP4's in the system and they work like a champ. I am
starting to see some issues with newer software and advanced features that
require newer printers.

Love those 4's!

Subject: [Finale] OT: Laser Printer

I know that you all are experts on printers.

We have a Okidata Laser printer that worked well for about a year, but now
has worn out.

My wife prints several hundred pages a week, mostly Word documents.

Originally, price was the key factor, but now, having the printer wear out
quickly, durability is more the issue.

Looking at the HP web site I see:

HP LaserJet 1200se printer $400 (PriceWatch has one for $400)

HP LaserJet 2200 printer $650 (PriceWatch has some for >$650)

HP LaserJet 2200d printer $750 (PriceWatch has one for $650)

Are there other brands that are as good?

Is it worth 250 extra for the pricier models?
