WinFin and MacFin generally work the same. (Same menus, same basic sequences, etc.) QuickKeys or one of its competitors is essential. I don't know why your friend had trouble w/ Quickkeys. It works gre4. at.

MacFin is still OS9 only, and you will be frustrated if you try to use it in OSX Classic, unless you never use MIDI. Coda has announced that Fin04 will be OSX-compliant, but that won't be available until mid-year.

MacFin has two clear advantages over WinFin, although they may not be applicable to your setup.

1. MacOS has no MDI equivalent. Therefore each document window is totally independent from the others. In a multi-monitor setup, this is a significant advantage.

2. Cmd-return truly exits all dialog boxes, whereas with some tools in WinFin (specifically, the Expression tool), ctrl-return only exits to the final dlg. This is particularly significant if you have a programmable mouse (or kbd macro) that sends cmd- (or ctrl-) return automagically.

WinFin has some advantages over MacFin:

1. More built-in keyboard shortcuts.
2. The windowing system (esp. w/ respect to modeless plugin dlgs) is better behaved.
3. Some 3rd party plugins are Win-only, notably Forza!, Doolet, and some TGTools functions.
4. Windows has a robust and well-maintained option for working in portrait orientation on your monitor(s). As of now, the only MacOS alternative has received only minimal maintenance since the mid-90s, and it has no OSX future.
