Thanks, David (B), for reminding me to send this to support.

I'm getting the impression this is not happening to very many people, and
may be specific to my situation & David van Ooijen's. I am quoting what I
wrote to winsupport just now, which gives a little more detail. Please let
me know if anyone out there has any insight into this.

I have not been having any trouble with the playback side of the MIDI
interface. But I am in the dark about how to do anything with setting up
how the MIDI works with Finale on this XP machine. Any help would be
appreciated.

------ here's what I wrote to Winsupport ====>

I have been having problems with speedy entry since I upgraded to Finale
2003 (for Windows) a few months ago. Just before that, I had also purchased
a new computer with Windows XP - so it's possible there are some issues
there.

The problem is that when I am entering music in speedy entry, I am
constantly getting extra notes appearing on the screen. In doing this in
treble clef, I have been consistently been getting extra notes which are
lower than what I am entering - sometimes a little lower, and other times
with about 18 ledger lines below the staff.

The entry I am doing is with a MIDI device (A Yamaha PSR-220 keyboard). I
have "Use MIDI keyboard for input" turned on. I have been primarily doing
this with the caps lock on and number choice made to specify rhythmic value
of the note. However, if I leave the caps lock off and enter music by
holding keys on the MIDI keyboard and then pressing the rhythm value on the
computer keyboard, I have similar problems.

I have the MIDI setup MIDI in device set to SB PCI External MIDI - the only
choice which is made available in the drop down box. It seems to me when I
had my old Windows 98 computer, I had the option of MP 401 and was using it.

Please let me know what I can do about this.
