I generally also use note-attached expressions, but there is another situation where 
meas-attached is quite useful, and that is for indicating dynamic changes on a long 
note.

E.g., imagine a whole note that starts ff with a hairpin down to pp on the third beat 
then back up to ff on the last eighth. The latter two dynamics are much better placed 
as "This Staff Only" meas-attached exps, because they maintain their metric positions 
regardless of future spacing changes.
