You do the setting on your computer -- you hook the computer midi-out to the roland midi-in and the roland midi-out to the computer midi-in to complete a loop.

Then you need to select whatever port your roland is attached to (most likely an entry labeled something like SBLive! Midi Port, with some number in brackets) in the midi in and midi out lists in the Devices or Midi Devices dialog, often found under the Options or Tools or Midi menu of various programs.
