PS: The system is acceptable to me. I am a veteran of dongles (Logic), keydisks (Soundiver) and other arcane systems. Of course the potential demise of MakeMusic is a concern but the greater issue their would be whether the last Finale would continue to run on my continuously updated Macs.

Allowing two copies (eg: one for laptop) is good practice, and I hope it becomes more widespread. 30 days demo is reasonable.

Thank you. All this CHicken Little talk about "what if this happens" and "what if that happens" sounds silly to me.

I fervently hope that MakeMusic becomes profitable and survives. The combination of a very good upgrade and a sensible IP protection scheme give me hope that they are putting their business in the right direction.

And if they still end up belly up? Well in that case, the least of my concerns is how to keep a dead product running on my machine. My concern at that point will be to get on with the best available product. And fortunately with MusicXML, there will be a reasonable escape path.
