Thanks to all who responded. Some very interesting things, but not quite what I'm looking for -- which isn't actually a box for percussion, but rather one for transporting scores.
How much are you willing to pay? I was in a specialty luggage store about a year ago, and saw a high quality metal attache case of about the size you are looking for, but the price was (for my taste, anyway) on the high side.
