Andrew Stiller's book (written over 20 years ago) states that the transposition for crotales is not standardized, being either written sounding 1 8ve higher or 2 8ves higher. I'm wondering if a consensus has developed since Stiller wrote his book.

Two octaves of crotales seems to be reasonable from what I've seen, and notating them 2 8ves below sounding pitch would seem to be the most optimal solution for fitting them on the clef. (I.e., written c'-c'''.)
