[Finale] Emailing files cross-platform

Does anyone know a foolproof way for a Windows user to send a Mac user 
Finale files?  I'm finding it impossible to open files sent to me in 
.zip form, but perhaps there is (well, certainly there is!) something I 
don't understand about Windows and/or the internet?..
