Hi Johannes,

I have created .PS files using the drivers for both my real printer (HP 2200D) and a virtual printer (for large-format PDFs). I created both of these printers from within Classic. I used the latest Adobe PS drivers -- Apple's LaserWriter 8 drivers didn't work for me. I selected the printer from the print dialog.

And, you didn't ask, but in PostScript Settings I used "Level 1, 2, and 3 Compatible," "ASCII," and "Font Inclusion: All."

Hope this helps,

- Darcy

Darcy,

can you tell me how you created the printer in Classic? Did you create it
while booted in OS 9 or in Classic? Did you use Apple's driver or Adobe's?
How do you select that driver under classic - in the print dialog or via the
Chooser? Did you create this driver for an existing PS printer or as a
virtual printer?

Thanks for any info.

Johannes,

I don't know about Fin2003, but with Fin2002 I have had no trouble
generating working .PS files from Classic. In fact, my regular
PDF-making procedure is to print to .PS file in Fin2002, then open the
.PS file in Preview, which automatically converts the file to PDF. The
quality of the PDFs created by Preview in this manner is quite good, at
least for my needs. YMMV, but if you're having trouble with
GhostScript, you might try Preview and see if it works any better for
you.

(N.B. this will only work with OS X 10.3 or higher.)
