I think you misunderstand what I was asking for. I know you can enclose a selection of notes and get the "Apply Articulation" box. I also know that you can use metatools to assign articulations by enclosing notes. I use this feature all the time.
What I am suggesting is that you make *Expressions* behave the same way -- i.e., you enclose a selection of notes, and the "Expression Selection" dialog box comes up; that you can use metatools to assign expressions to a *group of enclosed notes*, not just one at a time, etc. "Make expression assignment work like articulation assignment" -- that's my feature request.

Hello,
You can already enclose a selection of notes, and the apply articulation box will come up.
I can write up the other feature requests.
I hope this helps!

Hi guys,
The new auto-positioning for expressions in Finale 2004 is *great,* but may I suggest a few improvements?
1) Enable click-drag assignment for Expression metatools -- i.e., make them work just like articulations. Using the Expression tool, I hold down the metatool, and click-drag a box around all the notes I want to assign the expression to. I hold down the Delete key and click-drag a box around some expressions, it deletes them. Since the Articulation tool already works this way, it would be terrific if expressions could be assigned this way as well.
2) Obviously, the above would be easiest to implement with note-attached expressions. But it would be great if it worked for measure-attached expressions. Here's what I had in mind: if you hold down a metatool and click-drag and enclose several staves without actually enclosing any notes or rests, it would be great if Finale would automatically create a measure-attached expression assigned to a staff set consisting of the staves you just enclosed. If there's already a staff set for those staves, great! Finale finds it and assigns the expression to that staff set. If there isn't a staff set that corresponds to the staves you enclosed, then Finale creates one for you and prompts you to name it. Convenient, right? Anything you can do to to help us avoid having to go to the dreaded Staff List dialog box when assigning measure-attached expressions would be a big help.
3) Allow us to batch edit multiple expressions in the Text Expression Designer dialog box. For instance, let's say I want to change the Additional Baseline Offset for all of my dynamics at once. Or let's say I want to change the font size of all of my rehearsal letters. Currently, I can't do it -- I have to edit them one by one. All you have to do is disable the box where you actually edit the text expression itself -- everything else should be active, so that you can batch edit multiple expressions at once.
