The Engraver music font, which is automatically installed with Finale, contains 8 vertical square bracket characters in heights from 1 to 4 spaces. They can be accessed on the Mac by typing Opt-# where # = the numbers 1-8. Numbers 1-4 face right and numbers 5-8 face left. You can use these to create automatically-positioning articulations.
