Lawrence,

I made this transition rather painlessly. If you have an older MIDI keyboard, you will need a MIDI to USB interface (and the appropriate downloadable driver. M - Audio makes inexpensive good ones - maybe $30 - 50). However, new (also relatively inexpensive) MIDI keyboards have outputs that connect directly to the USB ports and the OS X midi system, which works consistently well, unlike the OS 9 system, which often loses its internal "connection." Either method can work well with a minimum of fuss. AFAIK, most printers will also work. Mine did. there are occasional glitches in OS X, but I am happy to have made the switch. Speed and smoothness of operation are addictive. I can't remember when the last time I needed OS 9 was.

This my be a little OT, but a friend of mine and I are still in the OS9
camp, and are looking into the purchase of a newer system. We both still
have PCI based Macs, but are feeling the pull towards OS X.

Question: What happens to the peripherals? Do I need a new printer,
and MIDI to make Finale work correctly?

I am just in the investigative mode at this time. My old Mac handles my
old version of Finale just fine (2k3b).

Your thoughts on the matter are welcome.
