Hubs are an easy alternative to plugging in and out over and over. I use two powered USB hubs. The one thing I've found is that things that "take" from the computer, printers, for example, are okay not close in the hub chain, while things which "give" to the computer, scanners, are best close to the computer. Things which draw power from the USB chain I don't know about, but in my case these things are temporary, like a tiny USB camera, which I plug directly into my computer. The camera draws power from the USB to recharge its battery and acts like a removable flash drive, which it also is. These are my experiences. Will somebody please correct me if I have things wrong?
