Or course they do! How else could they know which printer fonts to 
include in the font list? The application has to know which printers 
are available to be able to do that.

Why are you blaming a problem like this on Windows, when it was an 
error on the part of your network administrators?

Blame it on Finale for crashing in this error condition, but it 
doesn't seem like a Windows problem to me at all.
