In that case, you can make two different copies of the Font Annotation file -- one that matches the old positioning (for opening old documents), and one for use for when creating new documents.

Not if you save the edited font annotation file.

What I meant is that I used to move ties on double whole notes, because they were too close to the noteheads. And I used to tweak the slurs also. With 2007, this would not longer be necessary... unless I change my font annotation file. In which case I'll either have to continue to move ties and slurs, or have my old files messed up.

This is really a serious problem, because it means not only you have to keep old versions of Finale running, but you have to make sure the publisher uses the same version of Finale you used to create the file.
