at the moment 100% quasi-portable (really desktop): in spring 2005 a fully-loaded mac mini was a good solution (price vs. need vs. functionality) for me because i work at home **all** the time, and when i travel i usually have a place i can set up for as long as i am there; the whole computer + monitor (at the same time i bought a used 15" flat just for travelling) + cables easily fits in a backpack.
next computer: laptop, but whenever working at home it will always be hooked up to an external monitor, large keyboard and multi-button/function mouse, i actually hate working on the laptop keyboards and monitors, and loathe trackpads.
