I totally agree.  I was just in this situation two days ago.  I ended up
with merging separate movement files to one file, which ended up as a
nightmare.  The added 2nd movement lost its clef even though the
instrumentation was exactly the same.  I think it is a bug, caused by a
pickup measure on the 2nd mov which merge files command funked out at.
