Just figured this out.
I have to change the group name in the score if I want it changed in
the score, BUT THE PARTS DO NOT INHERIT THIS. Unlike most changes
made to the score, I have to go to the part and change it there
separately if I want it changed there, too.
Whew. I thought I had gone nuts there for a second.

Hi Chris,
When viewing the part, before you optimize, just deselect "Show
Group Name" in the group attributes. The name will still show up in
the score.
As far as changing the group name, this is done from the Manage
Parts dialog box -- click the Edit Part Name button.

Hi, all
FinMac2008. I have a score with two pianos. I didn't want them
names Piano 1 and Piano 2 like the Setup Wizard defaults to, so I
changed the names to Piano (rehearsal) and Piano.
I created a new part called Piano/Vocal (rehearsal) with the Piano
(rehearsal) group, the solo voice and the SATB grand staff. In
this part, the piano is named Piano 1 (the default, not even my
changed name!) and I can't get this name to disappear without also
disappearing in the score, or else losing the bracket.
On a related topic, I also have a Synthesizer part, where the
group name insists on appearing on all systems in the linked part.
Same problem.
How do I get group names NOT to appear in linked parts, while
allowing them to appear in the score? It seems to me I have dealt
with this many times before, but I never had this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Christopher
