Hi Allen,
Yes, I resize my main tool palette, putting it into two rows and
shortening it so tools I rarely use are hidden. Will this behavior
stop, if I put the palette back to its original configuration? If so,
can I find this original configuration without starting my preferences
from scratch again, or will the fact that I moved it around in the
first place "carry" the problem and require a complete preference
rebuild? Or do you know?
Thanks,
Chuck

Are you guys resizing your palettes? There's a known issue with
resizing palettes vertically in Leopard.
Make sure to file this as a support case, and attach your corrupted
preferences.

Hi Haroldo,
Darned if I know. I take no pleasure from the fact that others are
having this problem, but it's nice to have some company.

It just hapenned again, only a couple of days after trashing the
preferences. Is this a problem involving Finale and Leopard?

Hi Hiro,
This seems to be system related, and I don't know what it is
about my system that produces this behavior. I can predict, with
some reliability, when it is going to happen, because there are
early signs of the corruption. The first sign is that some
instruments begin to play back at wrong transpositions. As this
begins to occur, jumping back in the score to begin the playback
at an earlier spot sometimes cures the problem for a while, but
it eventually becomes incurable with that method. The next thing
I do is close the file and reopen it - reloading the Garittan
sounds in the process. Again, this works for a while. Then,
suddenly, after entering a few notes, or changing pitches in one
or two parts, the problem recurs and becomes persistent. At that
point, I can be pretty sure that Finale will crash or not reopen
after quitting, and the preferences will be corrupted. I only
relate these details, in case there is anyone on the list who
might have an idea what is going!
on that produces this annoying behavior.
I am surprised to hear that others have experienced this, because
MM seems not to know anything about it.

I recommend making copies of the newly minted preference file
and storing them somewhere handy in case this reoccurs. Then
you can simply replace the troublesome corrupted file if this
happens again.
It seems only few of us are getting this problem?
I simply zip it, which makes a backup next to the original.
When this happens next time, I select the corrupted one, hit Cmd
+Del, then double-click the zipped file. I do this at least
once a week :-(
