Well, Frederick Neumann's tome (Ornamentation in Baroque and Post-
Baroque Music, Princeton U. Press 1978/1983, 630 pages) would be a
good place to start, it being written by someone who spent his whole
life studying the subject. There _are_ more recent books on the
subject, and also older ones that are by no means "out of date" and
still very much worth consulting, such as Robert Donington's "The
Interpretation of Early Music (Faber and Faber 1963-1977, 766 pages).
But I've almost always been able to find what I'm looking for in
Neumann.
