Ah, thanks, Andrew, that sounds familiar. But I'm curious where this
is in the Brahms. I have a Breitkopf edition here and don't see that
marking.
I seem to have misplaced my copy, so I don't know. Maybe it's in the Eb
sonata instead. I have a clear memory of it being somewhere in
there--or maybe the Mozart cl. 5tet--in any event I first encountered
the term when practicing one or another of those works back in the
'50s.
