No, no .... my tool still works fine ... which, considering my age is remarkable ... I was asking about notational convention(s). Looks like I just need to adjust to the times.

Are you asking if the tool still works, or whether no one uses that style anymore?

I like the modern beaming convention. Beaming to syllables made sense when melismas were the norm, but not so much since then. I hate seeing something like a Mozart recitative like that, with a bunch of unbeamed 8th and 16th notes spaced to the text so that the rhythm is hard to see.

But it's still good to have the tool available for when that's your choice.
