Hi Lawrence, Are you using Mac or Win (and which specific version)?
If Windows Vista or 7, you will need to right-click on the application icon and select "Run as Administrator". UAC will then allow Finale to save the registration information. 2006 isn't officially supported on anything beyond Windows XP, so I can't guarantee it'll work. We do not block old authorizations at all or deactivate them, by the way. If you can't authorize an older version, it's usually due to compatibility problems or both authorization spots are full (which just requires a contact to support for us to clear them for you).
