I have finale 2012c on a pc running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.

To give an idea of why I am so aggravated, all 
those tempo changes which I put in 
yesterday?  Most of them have gone away 
overnight.   My first guess there would be user 
error - but I kept saving every few minutes while I was working on it...
