Recreating a template for a new version is a tortuous and torturous task. Robert Patterson's Scrapbook Setting plugin just doesn't seem to work for me, and I'm not sure it's comprehensive enough to completely recreate a template with all one's refinements.
If someone came up with a plug-in that did this reliably, I'd pay good money for it. I've requested this from the Finale developers, but they didn't bite.
