Hi Craig, You should certainly be using the Change Instrument feature. For starters, it greatly simplifies part creation, and allows for mid-system instrument changes. There is this one playback issue I described (which I don't recall being a problem prior to Finale 2014) but certainly the benefits FAR, FAR outweigh this one particular drawback.
